This book broke my heart. It was so sweet and just really refreshing to read. Sometimes I get caught up in the whole bully romance genres that I forget how sweet it is when there is a man that is simply respectful and caring.
This follows Beyah a 19 year old who just lost her mom and is now moving from Kentucky to Texas to live with her Father who she had no relationship with. Beyah had a very hard Homelife and the way Colleen described her trials starting at such a young age was heartbreaking. The details and the way it was written was just so beautifully done that it connected you with the MC deeply. Then we meet Samson, he has a lot of secrets and is very private with things. Finding out his truths was like a knife to the heart. Beyah and Samson are kindred spirits just trying to navigate this summer together and how to break down one another’s walls. I am not going to lie I was shocked by this book constantly and that is what made me read it in one evening. Colleen really tackles what it’s like to be a young woman. I loved how she portrayed Beyah’s new step sister Sara. Beyah was obviously thin from not ever being fed well during her life. Sara doesn’t know anything about this and finds herself watching Beyah eat and trying to mirror how much she ate off of how much Beyah ate. Or there was a moment in a dressing room where Sara talks about her struggles with her body. The way Beyah handled this was phenomenal. As a woman I know almost all of us have been where Sara was. And I loved how relatable Colleen made this book.
Seriously, read this book.. It is somewhat heavy but the relationship between Beyah and Samson was so pure and just good for the soul.
Let’s get a few things straight. No beating around anyone’s bush –> straight to the factttsss. This blog will only consist of posts that I will immediately regret after posting due to the fact that I have no business having any type of opinion on absolutely anything.. Also if you are hoping to read some genius interpretation of some of the finest literature please do both of us a favor and just block me, or whatever you do on WordPress to completely erase the risk of you reading my trash reviews that will make you instantly hate me and want to tell me why.
Also if you haven’t noticed…. I am not a writer, and I usually never reread anything. (Or am I just that bad at English that I can’t form a correct sentence?) So if bad punctuation and incorrect use of words drives you crazy please join the people who already hate me because I am a disgrace to book bloggers everywhere.
This is my little oasis where I can drink my wine, probably get a little too tipsy and post my reviews about the books that I am usually too embarrassed to openly say I am reading. (Why do I still love young teen love, gross)
Okay now if you are a visual person and want to know what kind of blog this is. Picture a trashcan on fire. No further explanation needed.
